Forecast for 2018 in Health Policy, MIPs, Technology, and Interoperability

1/19/18  Back

Our monthly Health TechNet meeting was held Friday, January 19, from noon to 2 pm at Nelson Mullins’ offices in Washington, D.C.

The feature topic was:What lies ahead for healthcare technology in 2018? Some of the topics we covered were: 1) coming legislation and regulatory developments at the state and federal levels, 2) on-the-ground adoption of interoperability, 3) the effects of the adoption of MIPS (Merit-based Incentive Payment System under MACRA), and 4) patterns in new technologies coming into implementation. We had a mutual discussion and speculation on this among our members, during which we had as resources, members of the government relations team at Nelson Mullins, experts on MIPS from HCLC and The Academy, Michael Holck, an industry leader in implementation techniques for interoperability, and Deanne Kasim of Santesys Solutions. This has long been a productive way to set the stage for a new year of discussion and interaction within our group, and we had an interesting discussion on these eventful and changing times.
