Kenneth L. Geoly, M.D., Medical Director, Clinical Informatics, Inova Health System gave an extremely informative presentation on Computerized Physician Order Entry ("CPOE") issues. Dr. Geoly emphasized the importance of improved order communication, standardization of patient care and the usefulness of alerts and reminders all of which are possible through CPOE. In addition, Dann Lemerand, Director, Customer Relations, Reliance Software Systems, gave a fascinating demonstration of his company's flagship product suite, CDR-Web. CDR-Web is a clinical data repository system which uses Web browsers and the portability of mobile devices for secure, fast access to patient data.
